Western Municipal Water District Water Rationing or 250% Rate Hike

Your water rates will go up 250% if you use too much water.

WMWD is proposing a 40% decrease in your PERSONAL consumption.

Change or add plants and you must submit a plan (paid for by you) to WMWD.

If someone stays with you, you need to call WMWD to let them know.

Western Riverside County is amongst the wettest in all of Southern California and has record rainfall.

If you have more than 2,500 sq. ft. of landscaping, you need to have dedicated meter (paid for by you).

PLEASE take the time to read the information so you are aware of what is really going to happen to your water rates. They claim that the new Tier system is just to confusing for the average person. Maybe they should make it a little simpler for us to figure out. The following information, is an attempt to assist you in figureing it all out.

Public Hearing for Proposed Water Rate Structure
They Voted in Favor. You will now see a change in your rates starting in October 2011. The Tier 5 will not go into effect until October 2012. Thank you all for your support. Check back later for a full detail of the hearing. Here is what the Press Enterprise had to say about it but I can tell you we had more than 100+ people there. We had 424 total opposition letters (and they are still coming in as of August 2011) which was more than the amount of people they surveyed who were in favor of the new system. Acording to Tim Barr they had 80% in favor of 500 surveyed, this = 400. We had 24+ more signatures and basically 100% surveyed. The board choose to completely ignore that fact.
Western Municipal Water District is holding a hearing on raising our rates. This time it is not just raising our rate, it is water rationing.
